A Brief History

Meadows Place was incorporated in November of 1983 as the City of Meadows. Due to postal service conflicts with another city with a similar name, Council voted to change the name of the city in late 1997 to Meadows Place.

The one square mile within its borders is home to a population of approximately 5,000 people. City services include police protection, fire protection, municipal courts, water and sewer, public works and parks and recreation. Meadows Place has over 12 acres of developed parkland within its boundaries.

Located within Fort Bend Independent School District, the City is proud to be home to the award winning Meadows Elementary School. Meadows Place children complete their public school education at Dulles Middle School and Dulles High School – which was rated as one of the top high schools in Texas by Texas Monthly and one of the Top High Schools in the country by The Washingon Post.

Meadows Place shares common boundaries with the cities of Houston, Sugar Land and Stafford. It is the first city reached in Fort Bend County when traveling south on US Highway 59, (the Southwest Freeway) from Houston. Commercial establishments in the City include Wallis State Bank, CVS Pharmacy, Dennys, James Coney Island, Walgreens, Discount Tire, Sam’s Club, Helfman Ford, Sterling McCall Nissan, Tradicao Brazilian Steakhouse, Kelley’s Country Cookin’, Radio Shack, Pesto Italian Bistro and the Texas Direct Auto North Campus.
