The Meadows Place Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC) was established to investigate the various ways in which commercially zoned property within the City could be made more attractive for business development. The goal of the EDC is to attract financially secure businesses to add to the City’s property tax base, generate sales tax revenue, and have a value-added benefit to the residents. The MPEDC a Type B Corporation funded by sales tax and is controlled by an independent board consisting of seven (7) members three of which hold official offices: President, Vice-President & Secretary. Type B Economic Development sales tax is intended to give communities an opportunity to undertake projects for quality of life improvements and those that will contribute to the promotion or development of new or expanded business enterprises which promote economic development.
