Total Lane Closures – HWY 59 at HWY 90 Links to Maps Below

TxDOT has updated the timeframe of this project due to their contractor bringing in additional crews to work on this project. There are no changes to the traffic detour plans. Updates are as follows:

  1. Northbound lanes will close on Friday, October 21 at 9 p.m. and will reopen once work on the northbound lanes has been completed. This is expected Saturday afternoon.
  2. Southbound lanes will then close and are expected to reopen on Monday, October  24 at 5 a.m.
  3. TxDOT anticipates all work to completed on Monday morning and will not need the additional nightly closures as anticipated.

Northbound lanes detour: Begins at the HWY 90 exit ramp, traveling northbound on the HWY 59 feeder road, and will end at the HWY 59 northbound entrance ramp before Kirkwood. In addition, the northbound and southbound HWY 59 turnaround at HWY 90 will be closed [see map].

Southbound lanes detour: Begins at HWY 90 exit ramp, traveling southbound on HWY 59 feeder road, and will end at HWY 59 southbound entrance ramp before Dairy Ashford. In addition, the southbound and northbound HWY 59 turnaround at HWY 90 will be closed [see map].

During these closures, police officers will be present at the feeder road intersections of HWY 59 and HWY 90 controlling the signals to minimize traffic congestion from the detours. Residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to avoid the area if possible. Visit its.sugarlandtx.gov for more information on Sugar Land travel time data.
