When will debris collection start?

Large claw trucks, contracted by Fort Bend County, arrived in the city on Sunday, July 14. These trucks will remain in the city and make several sweeps over the next few weeks. They will start with the large piles of vegetative debris and then focus on the rest. It is VERY important you adhere to the debris collection guidelines. PLEASE SEE IMAGE IN THIS POST FOR GUIDELINES. Texas Pride Disposal has resumed their normal trash and recycling schedule. However, they are limiting yard waste to 3 bundled bags per household.

Who is picking up my pile of dead tree limbs and large debris?

Fort Bend County is handling that. They have contracted crews with large claw trucks to pick up storm related debris. This includes both vegetative and construction materials. However, they are focusing on larger vegetative piles first. You must separate all debris. If they do not take yours, they are making several sweeps of the city over the next few weeks. ---------PLEASE SEE IMAGE IN THIS POST FOR GUIDELINES----------- ***UPDATE 7/24/24: County debris collection crews are still performing the vegetative debris collection phase. They will continue doing sweeps of areas, including Meadows Place, to remove any remaining vegetative debris before moving onto other materials. Currently, they do not anticipate getting to construction debris materials (fences) for about 3 weeks. We understand this is not the timeline residents would like and we ask for your patience as the cleanup continues. Please continue to keep debris separated and in the right-of-way, not in the streets, until County crews are able to collect the remaining debris.***

What about my debris I put into bags? Do I need to dump the debris from trash bags into my debris pile?

Texas Pride Disposal will handle the debris you have placed in bags, you do not need to dump it out. Texas Pride Disposal has resumed their normal trash and recycling schedule. However, they are limiting yard waste to 3 bundled bags per household.

My trash and recycling was not picked up. Are they coming back?

Texas Pride Disposal has resumed their normal trash and recycling schedule. However, they are limiting yard waste to 3 bundled bags per household. To better assist the crews and limit confusion, please try to have yard waste in clear plastic bags and/or the heavy-duty paper lawn & refuse bags and if possible, separate it from your storm debris.

What about my other debris, especially my fence debris, will they take it?

Yes, construction materials include fencing even though it is not directly stated in the guidelines. Be sure it is separate from everything else. They are taking materials by type and will make several passes of the city to get everything. Also, a lot of times if you are paying someone to replace your fence, part of the quote includes removal of old fencing. ***UPDATE 7/24/24: County debris collection crews are still performing the vegetative debris collection phase. They will continue doing sweeps of areas, including Meadows Place, to remove any remaining vegetative debris before moving onto other materials. Where do I place my debris?

All debris types must be separated and placed in the right-of-way. The right-of-way is the area between the sidewalk and the street. If you debris is not separated, the claw truck picking up debris will not be able to take it. If debris is located too close to a mailbox, near any structures, or under power lines, they cannot take it. PLEASE SEE IMAGE IN THIS POST FOR GUIDELINES

Should I move my vehicle(s) out of the road?

Yes. If you are able to move your vehicle out of the roadway, this will make it easier for the large trucks collecting debris and trash to navigate our roads. If a vehicle is parked blocking access to a debris pile, the pile will be skipped during that pass.

What can I do to ensure my pile is taken as quickly as possible?

Be sure you are adhering to the guidelines mentioned in this post. Make sure there are no vehicles parked in the street keeping the truck from gaining clear access. Be certain you debris is separated according to the guidelines given. PLEASE SEE IMAGE IN THIS POST FOR GUIDELINES

They took my tree debris but left other items. Are they coming back?

The claw trucks provided by the county will be taking different types of debris at different times, starting with vegetative. That is why it is important it is properly separated. PLEASE SEE IMAGE IN THIS POST FOR GUIDELINES

I am on a cul-de-sac and they did not pick up my debris.

The first sweeps of the city will include a large claw truck that is also hauling a large trailer. With this trailer attached, they cannot get into the cul-de-sac safely. They will be returning to the city without the trailer and will be able to access your area then.

How long will this take?

We do not know how long this will take. We do ask for you patience as we continue to clean up and recover from the mess left behind from Beryl.

Message from Fort Bend County:

” In order to recycle as many materials as possible, residents are asked to separate disaster debris into the following piles:
• Construction and Demolition Materials
• Electronic Waste
• Household Hazardous Waste
• White Goods
• Vegetative materials (trees, limbs, brush, leaves, etc.)
DO NOT MIX OR PLACE NORMAL HOUSEHOLD TRASH WITH STORM DEBRIS CURBSIDE
Normal Household Trash – normal household waste, recyclables and bagged debris of any kind will not be collected with your storm debris. Please continue to follow the your normal garbage removal schedule.
Please note that this operation is ONLY for disaster debris. Please do not attempt to place garbage or other household refuse with the disaster debris, as it will not be accepted, and will delay your storm debris collections. Regular trash removal services in the community will continue as scheduled.
Please place the debris piles at the curb in the public right-of-way (not in ditches) in front of your home or business as soon as possible. Please do not block any public utility such as fire hydrants, water valves, road signs, etc. If properly separated, it will be picked up by crews.”
