At the City Council Meeting of January, 26th, 2016, Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) submitted the engineering traffic study and official recommendation for the Kirkwood Modernization and Beautification Project.
H-GAC is the region-wide voluntary association of local governments in the 13 county Gulf Coast region of Texas. Its service area is 12,500 square miles and contains more than 6 million people. H-GAC’s mission is to serve as the instrument of local government cooperation, promoting the region’s orderly development and the safety and welfare of its citizens. H-GAC is the regional organization through which local governments consider issues and cooperate in solving area-wide problems. This study was a part of that problem solving effort in regards to safe, effective, pollution reducing traffic flow through the City of Meadows Place.
This recommendation was the culmination of a very detailed traffic study conducted by HDR Engineering at a cost of nearly $50,000.00. HDR, at the behest of the City and H-GAC looked at and documented several different options. Based on the best engineering solution, coupled with Public Comments from the Special Meeting held in Meadows Place City Hall, H-GAC / HDR felt the attached was the safest, most effective traffic recommendation for Meadows Place. Please feel free to contact the City if you have any questions.
