National Night Out 2024

October 1, 2024

What: National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work.

When: Tuesday, October 1st | 6 PM to 8 PM

Where: Neighbors get together and hold parties around our community. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, Meadows Place celebrates National Night Out with  citywide block parties and cookouts.

Host a Party: Hosting a National Night Out party is a great way to bring neighbors together and get to know your police officers and Council Representatives. To register a National Night Out party, please contact Meadows Place PD at 281-983-2900 or email police@cityofmeadowsplace.org. This will put your party on the circuit to ensure you will receive a visit from an officer, a Councilperson, or the Mayor. Hosting a party is fun – have one!

The Mayor Council Association provides an opportunity for Fort Bend County elected officials to talk about things that are common to all.  Quite often opportunities are shared as well as solutions.  IMG_2196 (003)

This is unique across Texas, indeed, across the United States – another reason Fort Bend is so strong.  Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen says the Mayor and Council Association has helped everyone understand “how important it is that we work together. We will be much more powerful as a group when we need to get things done at the state and federal levels”.

After Mayor Owen opened the meeting, he turned it over to Meadows Place Mayor Charles Jessup for the invocation and introduction of the guest speakers for the night.

Picture1Attending Association members were treated to some fantastic BBQ prepared by Larry Martin of Majors BBQ of Meadows Place and two great presentations. The first, by Barbara Keller-Willy stressed the importance of Fort Bend County in the annual Monarch migration. Meadows Place and several other cities are working with Monarch Gateway to provide host and food sites along the route.  Very impressive and well received presentation. Also well received was the presentation by Mike Lucido of the Aldi corporation as he informed officials all about Aldi, their philosophy, why they are being welcomed into cities across the world and Fort Bend County, including Meadows Place, which will be the recipient of the first “larger, new look” Aldi store in the area. IMG_1514
