By now you know that we had the chance to ask Billy Burge, the original developer of Meadows Place, about a handful of our street names and their meanings.

So far, you’ve learned about Dorrance Ln., Pamela Sue Ct., and most recently, Hoggard Dr. Today we uncover the meaning behind Scarcella Ln.

To understand why we have a street named Scarcella, we have to look across the road to Stafford. Scarcella Ln. is named after the late Mayor of Stafford, Leonard Scarcella. Leonard also happened to be Billy’s brother’s suitemate at Texas A&M and a Ross Volunteer. Leonard had many historic accomplishments, including helping Billy and the Ayrshire Corporation in the early days of the company. To honor him for his contributions, a street was named after him. Next week we’ll share the last street in our history lesson. It is another street rarely driven but with an interesting name. Be sure to check back in!
