1. Flag day has been around since 1885. The idea came from Bernard Cigrand who was a teacher in Wisconsin.
2. Did you know Betsy Ross didn’t design the American flag? Turns out there is no historical evidence that she played a role in its creation. The true credit goes to Francis Hopkinson, a delegate from New Jersey who also signed the Declaration of Independence.
3. There is a Flag Code and it says the American flag should not be used as bedding, drapery, or apparel.
