Christmas Memories in the Park

Christmas Memories 2009

The 20th annual Meadows Place Christmas Memories in the Park took place on Friday, December 11th. This yearly event is a favorite tradition among residents and visitors!

Activities included hayrides, carriage rides, giant snow hill for sliding, camp fire area, and all new equipment for the kids to play on! This year, Parks and Recreation arranged to have an enormous inflatable slide, bungee jousting, and bouncy boxing! Live music from The Emotions and a snow machine turned Mark McGrath Park into a winter wonderland.

The highlight of the evening is always the arrival of Santa. This year, Mr. & Mrs. Claus came in style in a shiny red fire truck called “The Big Red”, courtesy of Tim Evanich. Once he arrived, the children were treated to visits with Santa and plenty of festive spirits as he handed stockings filled with Christmas goodies to all of the good boys and girls.

Steve Bezner, along with Cub Scout Pack 301, offered fire pits providing warmth and sold s’more kits for their fundraiser as well. Everyone was excited to see the fire pits back this year! Residents enjoyed sitting on bales of hay listening to The Emotions perform, and eating delicious warm food and drinks provided by Meadows Marlins Swim Team and Meadows Place Baseball. Parks and Recreation would also like to thank Brookside equipment for the use of their tractor, two trailers, and two gators.

In honor of Mr. Bob Stolting, former resident and pilot of the popular apache helicopter flown at our Fourth of July celebrations, the City of Meadows Place now recognizes December 11th as Bob Stolting Day. After the announcement of the proclamation of Bob Stolting Day, the night sky was lit up by a FANTASTIC fireworks show! It was the perfect way to end our 20Year Anniversary of Christmas Memories. Parks and Recreation would like to give a big thanks to HDR/ Claunch & Miller and Southwest Water for making our fireworks display possible.

Thank you so much to all others who helped make this a great 20th Anniversary of Christmas Memories in the Park! If you have any suggestions on how to make next year’s celebration even better, contact Meadows Place Parks and Recreation at 281-983-2935 or e-mail terry@cityofmeadowsplace.org or monya@cityofmeadowsplace.org!
